Clipry respects copyright. If you are a rights holder (or their authorized agent) and you believe content on Clipry infringes your copyright, you can ask us to remove it under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. ยง 512.
How to send a takedown notice
Email a notice to the address in the "How to reach us" section below, or use the abuse page and pick "Copyright". To be effective under the DMCA, your notice must include all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or their authorized agent.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed. If multiple works at one URL, you can provide a representative list.
- The exact Clipry URL(s) of the allegedly infringing material, so we can find it. We can't act on "there's something on your site". We need specific links.
- Your contact info: full name, mailing address, phone, and email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
Missing pieces means we cannot legally act on it. Send the complete notice and we'll usually action it within 1-3 business days.
How to reach us for DMCA
Email: support@clipry.com
What happens after you send a notice
- We acknowledge receipt by email.
- We review for completeness. Incomplete notices get a reply explaining what's missing.
- For valid notices, we remove or disable access to the material, usually within 1-3 business days.
- We notify the uploader that their content was removed and give them a copy of your notice (with your contact info redacted on request, though we have to share it if they file a counter-notice).
Counter-notices
If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or the use is legal (fair use, you own it, you have a license, the rights expired), you can send a counter-notice to the same address listed in "How to reach us" above. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the removed material and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your full name, mailing address, phone, and consent to jurisdiction of the US federal district court in Minnesota (or, if you're outside the US, any judicial district where Clipry may be found) and that you will accept service from the original claimant.
If we receive a valid counter-notice, we forward it to the original claimant. Unless they file suit within 10-14 business days, we'll restore the content.
False notices are illegal
The DMCA makes it perjury to knowingly file a false takedown notice or counter-notice. Submitters who do this can be sued for damages by the other party. We will also remove abusive submitters from our system.
Repeat infringers
We terminate accounts of users who repeatedly upload infringing content. "Repeatedly" generally means three valid DMCA notices within a year, but we apply judgment. One large-scale infringement is enough.
Important: what we can't do for you
- We can't share contact info of the uploader without a subpoena or court order.
- We can't preemptively prevent re-uploads unless you give us reference fingerprints. We don't run content-ID at our scale.
- We can't help you find infringement on Clipry. URLs are random; you have to give us specific URLs.
